Full description

genus of species of perennials with rhizomes that are evergreen or deciduous.
The majority grow in clumps and have light to mid-green or blue-green, tufted, arching, linear to strap-shaped leaves.
Flowers are carried well above the foliage in erect, typically dense, spike-like racemes; occasionally, erect, tubular or cylindrical flowers are also present. They have good looks. The flowers come in a variety of colors red, orange, yellow, white, or greenish white and some of them open red before turning yellow and bearing eye-catching racemes with two colors.
