Description

Genus of species of buttressed deciduous and evergreen trees.The attractive, straightforward, entire, broadly obovate to oblong or elliptic leaves are arranged alternately, spirally, or in nearly opposite pairs. They are either transparent or minutely pitted with transparent spots. Small, tubular flowers with no petals are produced in axillary or terminal spikes or panicles, and they are followed by one-seeded fruits.
